Verbatim BD-R LTH media is manufactured with an organic dye that turns the discs reflectivity during recording from low to high. Other BD-R discs use the high to low recording method. BD-R LTH is manufactured on converted CD-R/DVD-R production lines utilizing a spin coating process that allows excess materials to be recycled. Key hardware manufacturers (Sony Pioneer Panasonic LG) have worked to assure that their burners are fully compatible. BD-R LTH media should work with most BD burners manufactured after 2009. For BD burners built before 2009 check with the manufacturer for firmware updates.
